The threshold for market access in the EU has been raised again. On August 1, 2025, the Cybersecurity Supplementary Act (EU 2022/30) of the EU Radio Equipment Directive (RED) will be officially enforced. This means that all radio equipment exported to the EU must comply with the stringent requirements of the EN 18031 series standards; otherwise, it will not be able to enter the EU market.
EN 18031 is a high-standard certification system introduced by the EU for the cybersecurity of wireless devices, focusing on the following aspects:
● Cyberattack prevention capability: Devices need to have the ability to resist cyber threats such as illegal access and data tampering;
● Personal data and privacy protection: Ensure the encryption and integrity of user data during transmission and storage;
● Software update security: Support secure firmware upgrade mechanisms to prevent malicious exploitation during the upgrade process;
● Communication security mechanisms: Guarantee device authentication and channel security during wireless communication.
Several industrial-grade wireless routers and industrial gateways from PUSR have successfully obtained the EU EN 18031 standard certification. This marks that PUSR's products have met the highest compliance requirements of the EU in terms of cybersecurity, providing global customers, especially those in the European market, with more compliant and securely connected IoT products.
